(Veteran) Raymond Altman, age 86, of Butternut, died on Saturday May 21, 2016 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. He was born on March 5, 1930 in Butternut, the son of William and Meta (Schaper) Altman. His early life and schooling were in Butternut. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Butternut and was a logger and a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War, earning the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

 

He is survived by:

his brother Wayne Altman of Alaska

and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Walter, and nephew Josef Altman.

 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 24, 2016 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Butternut American Legion Hall.

 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at Union Cemetery in Butternut at 10:00am. Rev. John A. Deitz will officiate and military honors will follow under the auspices of the Butternut American Legion Post.
